The Children Center of Metro Atlanta, Inc. (CCMA) was founded in September 2003 and incorporated in March 2004. CCMA was granted non-profit status in August 2004. CCMA was founded to address the needs of children in Georgia’s foster care system by providing a healthy, stable and nurturing home environment for children and to promote permanency through adoption. We will strive to reduce the number of moves children may experience in foster care by preparing, promoting and retaining families to address the needs of children who are abandoned, abused and neglected. The goal for CCMA, Inc. is for permanency for all children. CCMA, Inc plans to accomplish this through advocacy, support services for families and children and ongoing pre and post placement services. The Children’s Center of Metro Atlanta, Inc. assists foster and adoptive parents as they meet these rewarding and challenging experiences. There are a number of single foster and adoptive parents that are meeting the day to day challenging with raising the children in foster care. When children enter a foster or adoptive home this is a major adjustment for the parents and the child. In some cases this may be the foster or adoptive parent’s first time parenting children and may not always understand the impact of what it takes to parent a child who has been in foster care. CCMA will provide a haven for those parents new to the job. Having a support system plays a major role in meeting the needs of parenting these children, especially for single parents. When couples parent they may benefit from the roles of supporting each other in parenting that child. In comparison to a single parent taking on the responsibility as an individual, CCMA will help to fill the gap. As a parent, there are educational concerns, a need for respite care, medical concerns or behavioral concerns with these children. Single parents may need support on how to best advocate for their child through the school system, support with addressing medical concerns or how to best address challenges with managing behavior. We offer:
We work in partnership with the State of Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services. We offer services for prospective adoptive couples and singles who are interested in older children, special needs and sibling group adoptions.
